Severe malnutrition is one of the most treatable threats to a child's life. The treatment fits in a small packet. And too many children still never get it.

No child too far to reach.

We know exactly how to save them. That's what makes it unbearable.

Severe acute malnutrition is not a mystery. A peanut-based therapeutic paste, a few weeks of follow-up, and most children recover.

The problem isn't the cure. It's the distance: the clinic is a day's walk away, the mother can't leave her other children, no one weighs the child until it's too late.

One child

Illustrative story, based on situations community health workers commonly face. Real testimonials will be shared with families' written consent.

Amina, 2 years old, West Africa

When the community health worker first measured Amina's arm, the tape turned red. She weighed less than a healthy one-year-old. Her mother had noticed she stopped playing, but the nearest clinic was hours away.

With AMA and our local partners: Amina is screened in her village, receives therapeutic food at home, and is followed every week. Six weeks later, she's walking again.

No child too far to reach.

We bring the cure to the child, not the child to the cure.

  1. We find – local health workers screen children in their villages.

  2. We treat – therapeutic food delivered close to home.

  3. We follow – weekly check-ins until the child is out of danger.

  4. We prevent – mothers learn the signs and how to feed their children with what's available locally.

Carried out by local partner organizations in West and East Africa, selected through AMA's due diligence process.
